2006
The company was first formed by Tim Brickle in November 2006 as Extreme Element Ltd. It had a mission to “Promote the learning of extreme sports courses and the taking part in adrenaline experiences across the UK & Europe”.
With a vision to inspire people to get out of the office and into the extreme world of the great outdoors, the company aimed to be the only gift voucher agency that was 100% dedicated to extreme sports and experiences.
2008
The company formed a collaboration with Xperience Days Inc, the number one provider of Experience Gifts in the USA, providing vouchers for activities and days out across all 50 states.
Together, both companies developed our branding, sharing packaging and website design ideas across both platforms.
During 2008, the company also launched a revolutionary ‘Book&Go’ system which allowed customers to book specific times and dates online solely.
2010
On 26th September 2010, Extreme Element (Exelement) decided to cement our reputation as being the most extreme gift voucher company in the market, by attempting to break a Guinness World Record.
We teamed up with The UK Bungee Club to attempt to complete the ‘Most Bungee Jumps in an Hour, By One Person’. UK Bungee operations manager, James Field smashed the previous record of 19 jumps, completing a staggering 42 jumps in just 60 minutes and thus securing our place in the 2011 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
2011
In 2011, Extreme Element was acquired by Xperience Days Inc., whose expertise in the business bought a new lease of life to the company.
Whilst the Extreme Sports company sold their shareholdings in the business, Extreme Element continued to operate under the internationally recognised company branding.
2012
Following the growth of more mainstream experiences, we made the decision to take advantage of developing markets, re-launching our new website and branding...and so ExperienceDays.co.uk was born.
Although Extreme Element continued to run as a sister company, Experience Days moved away from offering solely ‘extreme’ sporting adventures. With our ability to offer more traditional experiences such as spa days and afternoon teas alongside bungee jumps and supercar driving, Experience Days opened up a whole new market of customers. Since then, the company has continued to grow and we are now one of the top experiential gift companies in the UK.
2015
‘Record Breakers and Christmas Makers’ - In December 2015, Experience Days joined forces with Mattel in an attempt to break yet another Guinness World Record, this time for the ‘Most People Wrapping Presents Simultaneously’.
Despite narrowly missing out on the record, we teamed up with Barnardo’s Children’s Charity to distribute toys to hundreds of less fortunate families in the Bournemouth area. The event received coverage from local newspapers and radio stations, and was even featured on the BBC South Today TV programme.
2016
Not quite content with our near miss, Experience Days decided to go all out with another, somewhat more unusual record attempt. Teaming up once again with our trusted partners, UK Bungee Club, we decided to attempt a record for the ‘Highest Bungee Dunk’.
On the 12th Annual Guinness World Records Day, whilst events were being held around the globe, Simon Berry, successfully launched himself from a 250ft bungee crane to dunk a McVities Chocolate Hobnob into a cup of Yorkshire Tea! Videos of the successful dunk went viral, and received over 300,000 views on YouTube alone.
2017
Experience Days expands its horizons, joining the experience gift market on a third continent – South Africa.
Having first met as classmates at the University of Cape Town, the Managing Directors of Experience Days (UK) and Xperience Days (US) embarked on a new venture, launching a third experience gift website, ExperienceDays.co.za.
Meanwhile, in the UK, Experience Days proudly launched our new look, highly functional website design. With high resolution images on every page and customer-friendly search functions, it couldn’t be easier to find the perfect activity gift!
