Enjoy a traditional Welsh Afternoon Tea in the tranquil surroundings of Snowdonia National Park

Afternoon Tea Experience Days: Relax and unwind with the Afternoon Tea For Two at Riverside Hotel experience, the perfect setting for enjoying delectable Welsh treats and taking in the breathtaking Betws-y-Coed scenery.

To give it its proper name, the Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel was built in 1890 and is situated in an enviable location in Snowdonia National Park. Travelling a short distance down a private driveway, you'll catch your first glance of the magestic hotel, positioned with views of the lush Conwy Valley, adjacent to the sparkling waters of the River Conwy. The hotel boasts sixteen acres of private gardens, just waiting to be explored at your leisure. Heading into the four-star establishment, you have the choice of dining in the restaurant, cosying up in an armchair in the lounge, or heading outside to enjoy the sunshine. Once you've chosen your desired afternoon tea spot, the staff will commence with the tea, ensuring your every need is catered for. Being a privately owned hotel, the staff are trained with exceptionally high levels of courtesy and service, meaning guests are safe in the knowledge they are in good hands. The afternoon tea will include a number of traditional Welsh cakes such as Bara Brith, as well as open-sandwiches on delicious flavoured breads, scones with cream and jam, and a variety of cakes, all homemade. To quench your thirst, guests can choose from a selection of speciality teas and coffees.

This experience makes a glorious afternoon out with a friend or relative, great for those who enjoy traditional Welsh food and relaxing in the beautiful Conwy Valley landscape. A truly magnificent gift to share with a loved one.

Had a pleasant afternoon tea at the Riverside Hotel. The setting was lovely sitting outside overlooking the river. The lady who served us was very friendly. On our sandwiches we had salmon and cucumber, ham and tomoato and on a brioche roll we had egg mayonnaise . We weren't really a fan of this as it was really sweet but that's our personal taste I suppose. Cake wise we had, a small fruit tart, a lemon drizzle square, bara brith, welsh cakes and a scone. The cakes were very nice but here's where I had an issue. I'd informed them that I had a strawberry allergy so fair enough there were no strawberries. Unfortunately this also meant that neither myself nor my husband had no jam for our scone and as the jams were only in the bought little pots it seemed a bit strange, not too much of a problem I hear you say, unfortunately we also had to ask for butter. We were served a scone with just cream. For the cost of the afternoon tea it does seem, on this day and age very strange not to offered an alternative or at least butter. If there was no jam then maybe some of the fresh raspberries that were grown on the grounds could have been offered to pop on top of the cream. This may sound very petty but it wasn't a cheap afternoon tea. Basically, enjoy your afternoon tea but bring your own jam if you can't eat strawberries.
