If you’re visiting Liverpool with your other half – or you live here and want to get a new perspective on your hometown – there’s a wealth of interesting and immersive activities right on your doorstep. As a city with a rich cultural, musical and sporting history, you’re spoiled for choice for exciting and unique things to do.… but which are best for couples? Below, we’ve picked four of our favourite Liverpool couples activities – and there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re into TV tours or river cruises, you’re guaranteed a day out you’ll both treasure for years to come.

If you like nothing better than curling up in front of Peaky Blinders with your partner, then we’ve got a treat for you. Climb aboard a bus for the Half Day Peaky Blinders TV tour and immerse yourself in the world of this award-winning TV show, which was filmed on the streets of Liverpool. Over four hours, you’ll drive through the city and visit at least 10 locations from the show, watching clips as you pass the actual spot. Throughout the tour you’ll hear plenty of juicy behind-the-scenes gossip, and learn about the real life Peaky Blinders as you pass historic places of interest... as this isn’t just a Peaky Blinders tour, this is a fully guided tour of Liverpool too! You’ll see the on-screen homes of characters like Polly and Ada, the site of the Garrison, where Tommy is nearly killed (spoiler!) and much, much more more. A must for couples who love this BBC show.

If you have a taste for the finer things in life – namely decadent food, delicious wine, Champagne and luxury hotels – then consider treating your better half to a Wine Tasting Day at Cheshire Mersey Wine School. Located at the swanky four-star hotel The Malmaison Liverpool, this experience is far more than just a wine tasting… Over the course of the day you’ll both learn about a wide variety of wines and grape varieties, and discover the secrets of perfectly pairing wines with food. There are plenty of tastings along the way – 13, to be exact – and because you can’t drink all this wine on an empty stomach, you’ll also enjoy a sumptuous three-course lunch… washed down with several glasses of Champagne! A wonderful experience for couples who love good food and wine.

If you or your partner is a Beatles fan, what could be better than a day out at the Beatles Story, the world’s largest exhibition on the ‘Fab Four’? Well, we’ll tell you what’s better: a visit to the Beatles Story, followed by a trip to the British Music Exhibition, followed by a lavish dinner for two! This triple-whammy experience is a unique chance to celebrate the lives, times and music of the world’s best-selling band, as well as learn about some of Britain’s other beloved rockstars. After exploring the Beatles Story, where you’ll learn about the Beatles’ journey to stardom, you’ll be able to admire original costumes, instruments, and photographs of some of the UK’s biggest stars at the British Music Exhibition, before capping things off with an Italian three-course meal at Wildwood. Truly an experience you’ll both remember forever.

If you're a couple who enjoy learning about history, why not take a romantic sightseeing Mersey River cruise with your other half? Hop aboard the world-famous Mersey Ferries to admire some of Liverpool’s most famous sights, including Royal Albert Dock, the 3 Graces, Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront and the city’s two cathedrals. As you chug gently down the River Mersey you’ll discover the city’s musical and maritime past, learning all about how the Beatles performed on these ferries and uncovering fascinating tales about Liverpool’s smuggling history. If that weren’t enough to keep you occupied, you’ll also get free entry to the World War II Submarine Museum, where you can learn all about Liverpool’s pivotal role in the war. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
