EXPERT INTERVIEW – FABULICIOUS BAKING SCHOOL
1) Please explain your journey as ‘Fabulicious Baking School Ltd’ so far.
I have always loved baking. As a child I used to spend my Saturdays in the library picking out baking books while my friends went shopping. I used to go home each week with an armful of books which I would look through, pick and try recipes and write out any recipes that I liked.
In 1994 I moved to France and after teaching English to adults I decided to get baking qualifications and formalise my love for baking and what better place to train. I love baking and the contact with people so what better job that combining both together. Everyone is different and every class is different.
2) What has been the biggest or most memorable event you’ve provided?
For me, my biggest achievement has to be getting my baking qualifications. I had to manage my training with family life and do all the exams in French!
3) Is there any inside information you can give us?
All the classes are hands on. I show you what to do and how to do it and then it’s your turn but I’m not too far away to give advice, tricks of the trade and a helping hand.
4) Do you have any exciting plans for the future that you’d like to tell us about?
In the future we will increase our class range to include bread making (specialising in French bread), sweet French bread making (including brioche, pain au lait and pain viennoise) and an all day French cake masterclass.
