I am quite happy with half a day trip to Stonehenge because it is simple specially travelling with my 14 year old son. It was well organised and quite enjoyable.

The entire excursion was well planned and well executed. Our group was in great hands with our tour guide and Stonehenge lived up to the hype. I had a great day at the stones!!

Our guide, Scot, was so good that he covered almost all of the information provided at the site! The one drawback was that our driver waited 20 minutes before leaving. It was clearly stated to arrive early and the bus would leave promptly. Because of this it seemed like our time at Stonehenge was shorter.

Also make sure to bring water in the bus on hot days, expect a good 2h to get back to London. Good idea to make it early in the morning it seem to get crowded as the day progresses.

This was just what I was looking for - I only had three days in London so didn't want to tie up a whole day outside of London. I also wanted to be there either morning or evening when the pictures would be better than bleached high noon shots (should we be lucky enough to have sun which were were!) so this was perfect. The driver, his name unfortunately escapes me, was knowledgeable and fun. We were the third bus in the car park and it was really only getting crowded as we left the stones. The audio tour was also very good. The only slight hitch was that I was unaware, maybe through some fault of my own, that we were not going to be dropped back at the same place we started from. We were left in Hammersmith and had to find our own way back to London which was easy enough but unexpected and involved another transportation fare. A great day. Very glad I took this tour.

Daisy, our tour guide was a delight. She gave us insight about the London neighborhoods on the way to the country and then again about Stonehenge as we approached the site. She took all the photos that everyone on the tour wanted of themselves at the Stonehenge site. The half day tour was perfect because it was not too long and we still got to spend 2 hours at Stonehenge and the informative visitor center.

Stonehenge was incredible and worth seeing but our tour guide was worthless. She was rude. Truly unhelpful when we ask her a question and when we ask for directions she was sarcastic and didn’t answer. I could have been a better tour guide!!! I took several tours while visiting and she was by far the rudest person I came across. She is in the wrong business. Cab drivers were better than her!! I wouldn’t recommend this due to her!!!!! I booked through Viator. I bus driver was very kind.

We thoroughly enjoyed the half day tour to Stonehenge. The guide was knowledgable of the Stonehenge and the outskirts of london as we drove past. The stones itself we're magical and definately worth the trip especially with the audioguide. I would however note that we would have preferred more than the hour to see everything as we were only able to fit the viewing of the stones in and unable to see the museum attached. We were also dropped off to another station instead of our original departure station. This meant we were unable to use our return train ticket and made transport difficult to navigate back to our hotel. Otherwise had a wonderful day

This was not our best experience with Viator and the rainy, windy weather did not help. While our guide spoke excellent English, he spoke in a low monotone and his words slurred. His voice did not carry to the mid-portion of the bus even though I asked him to speak up. Unable to hear him, those in the back of the bus just started their own conversations and drowned him out. He didn’t provide basic information and wasn’t aware of many facts surrounding the history of Stonehenge or the site. I was super disappointed. And, even stranger was his appearance. When we first got on the bus, I thought he was a student on holiday dressed in his pajamas. Absolutely weird and off putting. Also, the first time I have had a guide actively solicit tips by passing around an envelope. Lots of time driving, with no useful commentary and little time at the monument, with less useful commentary. He couldn’t control the weather but he also didn’t mention the indoor museum which was also covered by our ticket…in fact a lot of us didn’t know it was there or included until we asked a Stonehenge employee. It was almost like this guy had no experience as a real guide. Very disappointing. We should have skipped this one as so many others have suggested.

This is one of the better half-day tours that you can get if you just want to go and enjoy Stonehenge. You’re dropped off at the place and have 2 hours allotted You can take the visitor shuttle bus at the visitor center going to the Stones and a shuttle or a walking route (20-30 minutes) going back. I would advise leaving at least 30 minutes earlier from the Stones if you want to take either bus (lines get pretty long)/walk just so you won’t feel hurried. The walking route was also great in the chilly summer weather. Darren was a great tour guide. offering a lot of nice tidbits about places we passed through before just letting us catch some shut-eye (which works great for me since it starts early at 7:30). No problems encountered with anything at all!

As others have said, you’re moreso paying for admission and transportation to the Stones. But that being the case, it is a much more convenient way of seeing the stones versus a “DIY” setup, for about the same cost. The guide tells you a few interesting facts about England and the Stones, but mostly, this is a self-guided experience. You arrive at the visitor center right about when the stones open at 9:30, which is great because it gets way more crowded later-on. You have the option of taking an extremely pleasant 30 minute walk to the stones, or a 5-minute free shuttle bus. You have about 2 hours of free time to get anything at the gift shop / cafe, get to the stones, and get back, which is sufficient. As I said, we had a great experience at the stones..they’re fantastic to see, and being fairly empty of crowds, it was possible to get pretty much any photo we wanted. It did not feel too rushed. When we went back to the visitor center to get back on the bus, we had time to grab a snack to take with us. One last note - the viator page says that you get back about 1:30, but plan for this to be more like 2:30. 1:30 does not account for the inevitable afternoon traffic back into London.

Great driver- very personable and offered a little commentary along the way (not too much) SO happy to beat the crowds with the early start. When we left, the crowds were really filling in. Could not ask for a better trip. A pro tip- if it’s a nice day and the museum doesn’t appeal to you, skip the shuttle from the stones back to the visitor center.
