Caly and I were thrilled to recently be invited to the Magic Wand Building Experience in London, held at the Wands & Wizard Exploratorium. Keep reading to find out my honest review!
Being a spiritual person at heart, with a huge interest in constellations and star signs, I was preparing myself for this magical experience and knew it’d be the perfect match for me. Amongst the enormous skyscrapers that tower over the bustling streets of London, Caly and I spotted the Wands & Wizard Exploratorium from a mile away.
From the outside of the quaint shop, you’d have no idea that this is magical land that hosts an array of unpredictable experiences. Upon entering, we were greeted by an enthusiastic witch who checked us in for our magic wand building experience.
The decor consisted of capes, potions, and magical creatures, evoking a sense of magic from every direction. Before being led to the location where we would be building our magic wands, Caly and I had to make a crucial decision – did we consider ourselves as dark, earth or light magic holders? Caly and I are like two peas in a pod, so of course we both agreed that we were light magic holders; it simply appealed to our instincts.
Once the decision had been made, we were both gifted a light magic necklace that enabled our magical abilities and protected us against the not-so-friendly inhabitants that lurked throughout the building. To reach the magic wand building area, we had to take the stairs down to a mysterious underground room that truly fit the castle-like architecture. Our first impressions when walking into the room left us amazed at the low-lit atmosphere, filled with smoke.
Inside the room were several stations, behind which each aspiring witch/wizard were asked to stand. Caly and I took to our stands, where the magic wand building commenced. First up, we had to follow our intuition and choose which two parts of our magic wand we thought combined well together. The choices were vast, but we both decided for our wands to remain simplistic with not too much of a design visible on the handle.
Don’t get me wrong, choosing the appearance of our magic wands felt extremely important, but getting to decide on the internal aspects made it much more meaningful. All in all, we got to customise the magic wand wood, magical core, wand handle and wand shaft to personalise it the way we wanted. I couldn’t believe it when I found out that there were over 280 possible combinations.
After our magic wands were fully assembled, it was time to try some beginners’ magic and put our wands to the test! When holding the wand, it illuminated to convey that it was ready to be used. With a few movements and interactions with symbols around the room, the lights dimmed, and smoke emerged. I thought it was really exhilarating to take part in something that felt quite truly like real magic!
Caly and I getting our magic wands was definitely a journey full of emotions. Before leaving, we were given a certificate to fill out to state that we had been granted our magic wand and that it belonged to us. Not only that, but we were able to take the magic wand we’d built back home with us. It reiterated the fact that we could still put our magic to good use outside of the Wands & Wizard Exploratorium. I think it’s safe to say that Caly will be progressing to some advanced magic spells, but I still need more practice.
The Magic Wand Building Experience in London is an experience perfect for those aspiring witches and wizards out there, or somebody looking to try out something new in London!
