PARTNER INTERVIEW: CHARLIE DOODLE
Last month Experience Days welcomed the wonderful Charlie Doodle to the website. Leading a range of different lessons and classes, Charlie is all about helping people tap into their creative side and try out something new. Providing a relaxing and educational environment, the sessions are topped off with either tea and coffee (morning sessions) or a glass of bubbly (afternoon sessions) - pure bliss! The collection of creative workshops include homemade candles and key ring making, and we wanted to get to know more about the Brighton based business.
How did Charlie Doodle begin?
Charlie Doodle is proudly celebrating its 10th birthday this week! We started off with greeting cards and personalised gifts and expanded to creative workshops at the award nominated Flamingo House & Studio in Brighton & Hove.
Talk us through your various workshops.
We offer a wide range of workshops suitable for all purse-sizes and creative abilities: nipple tassels, flower crowns and pineapple pimping are very popular with hen parties and larger groups. All afternoon sessions include a glass of bubbly, which adds to the fun. People love to learn how to make candles and personalised gifts for friends & family. Businesses also frequently attend our classes. Everyone is welcome, no previous experience necessary.
Which do you find to be most popular?
Candle making and flower crowns are our most popular workshops. We also run Christmas themes on these classes where you can learn how to make Christmas wreaths and special Christmas scented & decorated candles throughout November and December.
Do you have a favourite workshop to run?
No, I honestly enjoy teaching all the workshops! I also love the variety of people I meet. Every person brings something special, which makes each class and creation very unique.
How did you learn to make candles, pendants and key rings?
After many years of creating custom-made cufflinks, pendants, keyrings and candles for various shops and galleries, I thought it was time to share my skills with the public. I believe everyone is capable of making something special and personal, it’s just a matter of tapping into our creativity within.
What made you decide that Brighton & Hove was the right location for your business?
I grew up in London, New York & France before moving to Brighton to study Art & Design. I then decided to settle here, making it my creative nest & home. There’s something in the water here that makes Brighton & Hove a fun and creative place.
Thank you!
Thank you so much Charlie for inviting us into your beautiful home and giving us the opportunity to get to know you more. We are thrilled to be your Brighton neighbours, and can't wait to see where your creativity takes you next!
