STAFF REVIEW: 2 HOUR OFF ROAD DRIVING EXPERIENCE ASHFORD

Off-road driving is the ultimate experience to really feel challenged, as you tackle driving on intense unsurfaced tracks. On a visit to Ashford, Kent, our marketing team took part in a fantastic 2 hour off-road driving experience with True Grip Off Road. The drive to Ashford was very simple and, as I entered the town, the directions given by the venue were very clear and made it easy to find the right place. As I parked up and walked over to the reception, I was greeted by Guy and the other members of the team with a very warm welcome. As I walked into the main waiting room, I was impressed by the venue and the little touches they had added. There were photographs all over the walls of the the team during their past 4x4 driving experiences all around the world, so I knew I was in the right place to gain expert 4x4 tuition. I was most impressed when Guy pointed out a celebrity visit by the very famous Kaddy Lee-Preston, a local weather girl. 

To start the session, it was appreciated that Guy offered to make a tea or coffee for me, as he went over the introductory brief and safety information. Then, after all questions were asked, it was time to get going! Due to the location of the driving course being away from the main meeting point I needed to be driven by Guy for just 5 minutes to a different location. As Guy drove us down, I couldn't stop commenting on the stunning natural environment that we were driving past. It actually was a massive added bonus that we got to experience this drive, as we really got to see some breathtaking sights of Ashford. 

As we arrived at the venue, I was very impressed by the set up for the off-road driving course. There were a number of different natural obstacles, from steep hill drops to angled slopes. Once Guy had stopped the vehicle, he then explained it was my time to drive, which I was very excited about after seeing the course. Guy made it very easy to follow his instructions, as you could see he was clearly tailoring the experience to my driving abilities as I had little experience with off-road driving. 

It was then time to start the vehicle and begin my off-road driving adventure. Guy directed me around the course and provided helpful tips along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and found that with Guy's hilarious personality combined with the exceptional course to complete the off-road drive, this was the ideal place to do it. My favourite part of the drive was definitely having to reverse down a hill without being able to see behind me from the rear view mirror, but with Guy's impressive knowledge and skills for off-road driving I felt confident to try this. On one part of the course there was a severely angled piece of ground which made it feel like I was driving at a 90 degree angle, but this is what made the experience such an adventure. 

I really can't recommend this off-road driving enough. If you're looking for an adventure-filled activity that's at a fantastic venue and run by an outstanding team who are clearly very passionate about their business. And like Guy mentioned, a lot of people who visit say they pick this driving experience over others that are closer, due to the fact they're currently number one on TripAdvisor for outdoor activities and have a fantastic customer rating.  Thank you to Guy and all the team for having me, I'll definitely be returning again.
