Long Marston Driving Experiences
Long Marston Airfield was built after the outbreak of WW2. It featured three runways, three aircraft hangers, and barracks to accommodate over a thousand personnel. Among the aircraft stationed at RAF Long Marston were Bristol Bombay's, Beauport’s, Doninies, Hudson's, Marylands, and Wellington Bombers. During the War, the airfield served as base for missions to Gibraltar and the Middle East, and then as a training facility until its closure, in 1954.
Happily, Long Marston’s sprawling tarmac was soon put to good use again, when local motorsports clubs began hosting events there. Today, the airfield is synonymous with speed, and home to all kinds of motorised madness.
