STAFF REVIEW: FOOD TOUR OF LONDON IN A MINI COOPER
The Food Tour of London in a Mini Cooper was an experience that let me see the sights of London on four wheels!
It’s amazing to be able to say we’ve completed an experience that operates all from within the tiny frame of a Mini Cooper. If you’re a big fan of vintage cars, delicious food, and touring around the world, then this is the experience for you. For us, it began in the heart of London at Blackfriars train station. We met our friendly guide who informed us of numerous facts about the area and what the itinerary of the day would consist of.
Our first stop was Borough Market, which is famously known as being portrayed in the ‘Bridget Jones’ films. The guide told us all about the area and the shops that surrounded the market. It was already time for our first treat, which was from a coffee shop named The Gentlemen Baristas. Caly had a cappuccino, and I had a latte. I can tell you that we both loved it so much, it was a great way to start the tour.
We then went drove towards the more vibrant part of London, specifically Leake Street Arches. This is the only legal place in London where you can leave your creative print and graffiti to your heart’s content. Our guide even gave us the opportunity to do the same, so he gave us a sharpie for us to unleash our creative sides. It’s safe to say that a piece of us will remain in that tunnel for years to come!
Moving on, we hopped back in the Mini Cooper and headed to the Queen’s very own personal truffle maker. I really couldn’t believe it, but we had reached the location where the royal family purchase their chocolates. We each had the opportunity to try one truffle of choice each and I can tell you we both took a trip to heaven. If it was an option, we would’ve eaten the whole shop. I can understand why the Queen chooses this chocolatier.
After that sweet treat, it was time for a refreshing beverage at Sherlock Holmes pub situated in St James’. Both Caly and I opted for a cider to suit the sunny day in London. Whilst enjoying our drink, our tour guide gave us a fun fact about a symbol that is visible all throughout the borough of Westminster. However, if you’d like to know what this is, then you’ll have to go on the tour to find out for yourself.
With it almost being time to conclude our tour, we were brought to the well-known Mercato Mayfair, which is a cultural hub and sustainable community market. Walking into this landmark was astonishing and completely unique. It’s a must-see aspect of London! There’s an enormous array of foods to try out from cuisines all around the world – something perfect for everybody!
My favourite part of the entire tour was the fact that to get from each location, we were transported directly from place to place in a stylish Mini Cooper. It was unbelievable the power that such a small car held! We would like to thank our amazing tour guide Robert for this wonderful tour and the rest of the team at Small Car Big City. We recommend this to anyone who's interested in learning more about unusual things in London, whilst travelling in a vintage car with the opportunity to try various food and drinks.
The Food Tour of London in a Mini Cooper is an experience perfect for those who are unfamiliar with London, or somebody looking to try out something new in London!
