THINGS TO DO WITH DAD IN BIRMINGHAM

Share

Are you looking to treat your dad to an extra special gift? Or do you just want to spend some quality time together doing something fun?

Either way, if you live near Birmingham and are looking to treat your old man, we’ve got you covered. England’s second city is chock full of exciting experiences, and whether your dad is into pints or Peaky Blinders, there’s something for everyone here. To get you inspired, here are four of our favourite activities to do with your dad in Birmingham.

Quad Biking Experience Day

If your dad enjoys getting down and dirty in the countryside, what could be better than treating him to a Quad Biking Experience Day in Birmingham?

This activity is a great opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some quiet time in the woods… and by quiet time, we mean sitting astride a mighty KYMCO 150cc quad bike as it rumbles and revs beneath you. To get the most out of your quad bike, you’ll begin with a safety briefing and a quick lesson – then, once you and dad are confident, you’re good to go.

You can whizz over ruts, bumps and natural obstacles as you race each other around the track – but remember, it isn’t just about speed, it’s about skill! There will be a prize at the end for the most improved driver, so if you and your dad enjoy a bit of friendly (or not so friendly!) competition, this exhilarating experience is the perfect chance to see who comes out top.

Whisky Masterclass for Two

For dads who love whisky, what could be more special than a Birmingham Whisky Masterclass for Two? For this experience, you and dad will head to Hard To Find Whisky, a whisky treasure trove located in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter.

Here you’ll find more than 3000 of the most sought-after spirits in the world – not for nothing is this said to be one of the most impressive whisky collections in the UK! Pull up bar stool and get comfy, because you and dad are about to taste some of the rarest and most collectable whiskies in the whole shop.

As you sip, savouring the deliciously deep flavours, you’ll learn how to nose and taste whisky correctly using Hard To Find Whisky’s trademarked system – and you’ll also get course notes to take home, so you can conduct your own ‘research’ at your lesiure. The expert staff will give you personalised recommendations based on your own taste preferences, so if you’re hoping to take home a few bottles as a souvenir – or treat dad to a final gift – you can be sure they’ll hit the spot.

Peaky Blinders Tour

You’d have to be living under a rock not to know how popular Peaky Blinders is… and if your dad is a fan of this Birmingham-based TV series, we have the perfect experience: The Original Peaky Blinders Tour in Birmingham. On this tour, you’ll be accompanied by the leading expert on the ‘real’ Peaky Blinders, Professor Carl Chinn MBE.

You’ll meet at the iconic Old Crown pub, where you’ll kick things off with a drink as you learn about the gangs who terrorised the streets of Birmingham in the 1890s and early twentieth century. Then, step back in time as you walk through the city uncovering the local history, and visit the Rainbow Pub, where the term “Peaky Blinder” was first coined.

After, you and dad will have built up an appetite, so it’s time to head back to the Old Crown, where you can enjoy a typical Victorian dinner – something the real Peaky Blinders would have eaten! Once you’re refreshed, you’ll learn about the violent, blood-splattered gang wars of 1921 and discover what happened to the Peaky leaders!

Brewery Tour for Two

If your dad prefers a pint (or three) to a glass of whiskey, why not treat him to a Birmingham Brewery Tour for Two? During this afternoon tour, you and dad will get the chance to visit some of the best breweries in the Midlands, learn how beer is brewed and – of course – enjoy plenty of tastings along the way.

After you meet up with your guide (an expert on all things Brum and beer!), you’ll make your way to at least three iconic local taprooms and craft beer venues; at each place, you’ll step behind the scenes to examine the equipment and watch the brewing process, and as you walk from venue to venue, you’ll learn how each brewery started and what made it such a success.

Tandem Bungee Jump

If your Dad's a thrill seeker and you've inherited the trait with him, why not head up into the sky for an adrenalin-filled leap into the air, at the same time?

Experience the ultimate thrill as you and your Dad leap from a towering platform, secured together by sturdy bungee cords. Feel your hearts race in unison as you freefall through the air, the wind rushing past your faces. With every heart-pounding second, you'll create memories that will last a lifetime. So grab your dad, conquer your fears, and share an unforgettable father-child moment as you both take the leap of a lifetime in this exhilarating tandem bungee jump!

Pottery Making Experience

Does your Dad like to tap into his creative side? Well, we've got just the thing for you - a Pottery Making Experience for 2! Get ready to have a blast during this private wheel throwing experience.

For a whole hour, you'll be getting your hands messy and creating pottery masterpieces. Feel free to throw as many pots as your hearts desire! Don't worry if you're a beginner, though. The potter will be right by your side, giving you all the assistance you need to become a wheel-throwing champ.

When the time's up, you won't have to worry about the finishing touches. Just leave your hard work behind, and the skilled potter will take care of glazing and firing it all up. In a couple of weeks, you can swing by the studio and pick up your beautifully finished pieces, all ready to be showcased or gifted to someone special.

Here's the best part: absolutely no experience is required for this pottery extravaganza! It's a fantastic gift idea for any occasion, whether you're celebrating Father's Day, a birthday, or just want to spend some quality time together. Grab your dad and head to the Birmingham studio! All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a willingness to get a little messy.

Oh, and make sure to wear clothes that can handle a bit of clay splatter!
