Heyford Park Driving Experiences
Heyford’s story began during the First World War. First used by the Royal Flying Corp, in 1916, the airfield remained an RAF training facility until 1951, when it became a US Airforce base. During the Cold War, the station was home to strategic bombers and fighter jets, before the US military presence was eventually withdrawn in the early ‘90s.
Today, the airfield is a popular filming location for film and TV. Most notably, the outrageous climax to Fast & Furious 6 (the one with the exploding plane!) was shot on the disused runway.
With all that sprawling tarmac, it’s no surprise that Heyford Park is also one of the region’s top circuits for amateur driving events. The two massive straights enable drivers to really push cars to the limit, while the tricky corners provide a test of finesse over brute force.
