What is There to Do in Oxford

Unique Gifts and Things To Do in Oxford

A city of history, culture, arts, and beautiful outdoor spaces, the list of things to do in Oxford is almost unlimited – so whether you are planning a day trip to Oxford, are looking to travel to Oxford for an overnight stay, or are simply seeking local gift ideas for a special occasion, we’ve put together an inspirational guide of the best things to do...

Home to one of the most competitive and best loved educational institutions in the world, the city is blessed with a vast array of architectural masterpieces that the University of Oxford is proud to call its own. Whilst most of us can only dare to dream of what it would be like to attend a physics lecture given by Professor Stephen Hawking or a literature class by poet and playwright, Simon Armitage, there are still plenty of opportunities for tourists to explore the University colleges and buildings. Acquaint yourself with some of Oxford’s finest attractions with a guided sightseeing tour – whether you visit Oxford University’s famous Bodleian Library and Divinity School, the picturesque Christ Church College Courtyard and Cathedral, or the Iconic Radcliffe Camera building, be sure to take your camera along as you’ll want to capture these awe-inspiring buildings forever. Fans of the Harry Potter film saga or TV crime dramas Morse and Lewis will want to keep their eyes peeled for a filming location or two!

Perhaps you’d prefer to take the weight off your feet for a more leisurely sightseeing tour? Board a beautiful Edwardian-style river boat for a tranquil cruise along the Thames – take in the stunning Oxfordshire sights and scenery that inspired the great literary works of authors such as Lewis Carroll and C S Lewis, and imagine yourself as part of their most famous stories. For a special occasion, you might even choose to treat a loved one to an afternoon tea or picnic sightseeing cruise. If you’re a little more active but are limited on time, then cycling tours can be a great alternative to the traditional walking tour and allow you to see all the main points of interest in a fraction of the time.

Visitors to Oxford seeking a little adventure will not be disappointed. The city has the advantage of being surrounded by not one, not two, but three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so outdoor pursuits and activities for the family are readily available. Strap on the walking boots for a ramble through the Chiltern Hills, practice your aim with a clay pigeon shooting experience, or get hands on with a Bird of Prey flying day – there is an activity day out for all in Oxford and its surrounding areas. Oxfordshire is also lucky enough to play host to some of the UK’s best driving circuits, and with experiences ranging from Supercars to vintage Fire Truck driving, and Rally lessons to HGV precision driving, there is sure to be a track day suited to every petrol head out there.

After a long day of sightseeing or outdoor adventures, you’ll be ready to unwind and relax. Visitors to Oxford will be spoilt for choice with an eclectic mix of Heritage listed hotels, boutique B&Bs and charming guest houses to rest their heads. For the full pamper treatment, you can even treat yourselves to an overnight spa break at the idyllic Oxfordshire Hotel, Spa, and Golf Resort.

Whatever your reason for visiting Oxford – whether it is for a family day out, a romantic birthday celebration, or simply for a spot of sightseeing, we’re sure you’ll find the ideal experience day out and will leave this elegant city with a longing to return.

Excellent intro to Studio Recording. However, musicians might be better off simply booking a couple of hours with a local studio to save money and be able to perform the music as well as the vocal. However, if you want to sing along to a backing track and have it recorded and mixed to a high standard... then this is ideal. I very much enjoyed it and it has encouraged me to book more studio time in the future - but i'll bring the instruments next time.
